About the
VTR Effects
Since he was very young, italo always watched his father, even without training in the area, repairing some equipment at home.
The passion for electronic equipment passed from father to son, making him seek technical training in the area. Still in 2015, our founder was already in the 3rd period of the technical course in electrotechnics and, although the idea of building his own pedal had already crossed his mind, this only really became possible that year with the development of a classic Tube Screamer TS808 clone in a spray-painted Hammond box!
After assembling the first pedal and testing it together with a guitarist friend, this project became something magical, and the idea of creating your brand of pedals began to blossom little by little!
After making a few more clone pedals and studying a lot about this subject, Ítalo came across a Brazilian market that lacked companies that sought to break paradigms, developing truly innovative products that met the needs of the consumer. What he always heard around was that there were no good guitar pedals made in Brazil and that a foreign pedal would always be superior.
But that idea did not come down to him! Thus, Ítalo soon envisioned that he could bring something different to the market, starting his trajectory of founding VTR. It is very likely that you have wondered what “VTR” means, since it is not an abbreviation of the founder’s name, as is usually the case…
To understand the meaning of “VTR” it is necessary to know a little bit about the place where it all began: the wonderful city of Vitória, the island that is the capital of the state of Espírito Santo. Ítalo was born in that city and at the time these facts narrated happened, he was still living there. Like all good people from Espírito Santo, he is also passionate about this city and wanted to create a brand that would help the place where he was born to be more recognized around the world for the wonders that are found there. Thinking about it came the name VTR, which is an abbreviation of Vitória. To complete a word that does justice to the company’s products, VTR Effects was born.
To really get VTR off the ground, Ítalo needed financial capital, something he didn’t have. It was at that moment that his teacher, Denilson Machado, an electrical engineer and punk fan who accompanied Ítalo’s entire process came into play. It was Denilson who managed to grant Ítalo access to the school’s laboratory and thus be able to use the tools to assemble his pedals.
